Serving 45 Children | In Association with Empowering 2 Excel
Organization Overview
Rosie’s Wish Community Development Corporation (RWCDC) is a nonprofit dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty and educational inequality by empowering children and families with the tools to succeed. In partnership with Empowering 2 Excel, an evidence-based provider of academic and personal development programs, we are launching the Reading Accelerated Mastery Project (RAMP)—a literacy initiative designed to transform the educational trajectory of children most at risk of falling behind.
Statement of Need
In our community, too many children lack access to early literacy intervention, technology, and individualized support. Without these resources, students face compounding academic gaps that limit opportunities for success. Research confirms that third-grade reading proficiency is one of the strongest predictors of long-term academic achievement and life outcomes. Yet, underserved youth often face barriers including:
-
Limited access to books and culturally relevant learning materials
-
Lack of individualized tutoring and mentorship
-
Insufficient exposure to digital learning tools and literacy-focused technology
RAMP directly addresses these challenges by ensuring 45 children receive the support necessary to master reading, build confidence, and develop lifelong learning skills.
Project Goals & Objectives
The primary goal of RAMP is to accelerate literacy mastery for 45 children by providing evidence-based instruction, technology integration, and mentorship.
Objectives:
-
Improve reading fluency and comprehension levels for 90% of participating students within 12 months.
-
Provide each child with access to age-appropriate books, digital learning apps, and literacy-enhancing technology (including tablets).
-
Deliver individualized instruction and tutoring sessions in partnership with Empowering 2 Excel educators.
-
Engage families with literacy workshops and tools to reinforce learning at home.

Evaluation & Outcomes
RAMP will measure progress through pre- and post-assessments, tracking reading fluency, comprehension, and confidence. Success indicators include:
-
90% of students improving at least one reading level
-
Increased parental involvement in literacy activities
-
Sustained use of technology for academic growth
Evaluation reports will be shared with funders and community partners to demonstrate accountability and long-term impact.
Sustainability
This project is designed as the first phase of a scalable model. With funding support, RAMP will serve as a pilot that can expand across additional schools and community centers. RWCDC and Empowering 2 Excel are committed to leveraging additional partnerships, in-kind support, and volunteer networks to sustain and grow the program.
Conclusion
By supporting the Reading Accelerated Mastery Project, funders will be investing in more than just a literacy program—they will be empowering 45 children to break barriers, unlock their potential, and excel in school and beyond. Together, we can ensure every child has the foundation to read, lea
